Hi, Got a very old site running on 0.9.6.3 - What are the likely painpoint upgrading this site to either latest version of Evo, or maybe even to Revo?

Any things to watch out for that are likely to not work following the upgrade? I guess the 0.9.6.3 site won't event upgrade to REVO will it?

    Any advice / tips?

    Cheers

    dubbs.

There is no official tool to upgrade EVO to REVO - but if you do a search you will find provisioner and a load of tutorials that help to move an EVO site to REVO.

Upgrading from 0.9.6.3 => EVO 1.0.15 shouldn't be too much of a problem - a lot has changed, so if you have bespoke snippet / module code you may have to update that - the majority of default snippets and modules have also been updated - some minor others major.

I upgraded an 0.9.6.3 => 1.0.12 and all went smoothly - there are now more configuration elements that have to be looked at, but other than that, had no problems.

In particular the Ditto and the AjaxSearch snippets changed their properties. Usually what I do is take care to not overwrite the Snippets directory, and during the upgrade make sure to uncheck the snippets in the upgrade options page. Then I upgrade the snippets manually one at a time, so that I can avoid breaking too much at once.

Another option is to use your full backup (you are going to do a full backup before you try anything, aren't you?) to clone the site on a development server, such as a localhost server. Get it all upgraded and working correctly, then move it from the development server to the production server.
