My client has a current webhosting set up of a Windows 98 Server. I know the system reqs say Windows XP Server, but does anyone know will REVO run in the 98 Server environment? I know little about Windows servers, so I am not sure if MODX Revo needs something specific from XP.

    Thanks
    Jason

Not my call at all. This is a subgroup in a larger office (their current CMS is Adobe Contribute.. ugh) that I am working with to start implementing MODX in hopes that it spreads to the other orgs.

The other option is hosting this subsite on a different server, but I need to do my leg work to verify the issues with running REVO on Windows 98 Server.

A small step to a larger adoption (and hopefully a server move).

So, still looking for info on IF Revo can run on Win98 Server.

        Thanks

Well, I don't think it's a question of whether or not MODX will work, it's a question of the PHP and MySQL versions. After all, MODX is just a PHP application. If you've got the memory and processor power, at any rate.

That is what I am assuming, but just wanted to get a sanity check that there is nothing that MODX/xPDO expects from WinXP that isn't present in Win98.

I remember Windows 98 as a horrible, crash-ridden, buggy nightmare that I was grateful to escape, though I'm not sure if that bears on Win98 server. Good luck. wink

It would be interesting to try. I used to run a web server called BadBlue on Win 98, and Evo ran fine on it. Getting a MySQL installed at that time was not easy, though.
Windows 98/Me/NT4/2000 are no longer supported as of PHP 5.3.0.

As far as I can find out, there never was a "Windows 98 Server" version, it's just using a Windows 98 PC as a server. Kinky! I used to use Windows 3.11 for Workgroups as a BBS as well as my development machine. That was also interesting.
