So I’ve got a site in which the Captacha is acting a bit inconsistent on eForm. On this page:

    http://jetcleanusa.com/index.php?id=76

I’m using eForm with vericode=`1` ... sometimes the Captacha image shows up, sometimes not. If you refresh the page a few times, sometimes it will show up, other times it will not.

The site is running on MODx version .095

    Anyone had a similar issue?

I just upgraded this instance of MODx for the client to 0.9.6.1p2 but still the Capatcha is super inconsistent. Sometimes it shows up, sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve set up a test section to work on this issue and can be seen here:

Anyone else had problems w/Capatcha using eForm?

There are a number of HTML and .CSS errors on the page. I don’t see anything obvious that would cause problems with CAPTCHA, but you should probably clean them up first just to make sure.

You’re re-using CSS ID tags, which is verboten (they should be CLASS tags if you need them more than once).

Also, you’ve left off the trailing semicolon on a couple of   tokens.

        Here’s the full list:

After a bit of monkeying around, I managed to see this error from the veriword script at
          http://jetcleanusa.com/vs21/manager/includes/veriword.php?rand=1734326919

Warning: imagettfbbox() [function.imagettfbbox]: Could not read font in /home/.../jetcleanusa/vs21/manager/includes/veriword.php on line 126
Warning: Division by zero in /home/.../jetcleanusa/vs21/manager/includes/veriword.php on line 131
Warning: imagettfbbox() [function.imagettfbbox]: Could not read font in /home/.../jetcleanusa/vs21/manager/includes/veriword.php on line 134

It doesn’t always do that.. hope this helps a little.

On further examination, it’s definitely not your code (although you should probably fix it anyway since it may cause problems in less forgiving browsers).

Going repeatedly to an image URL that appears in the page source:

            http://jetcleanusa.com/vs21/manager/includes/veriword.php?rand=962752350

Gets an image sometimes and other times an error message.

Looking at the error page, I’m going to guess that you have a corrupt or missing font file in manager/includes/ttf

              BobRay,

Actually when I went and looked at the directory you mentioned above, I found a file in there, a php.ini file that the hosting company had put in there a long time ago that I forgot about. When I set this site up a year and 1/2 ago (before I knew about validation...I’ll definitely work on that later wink ), I had some issues with upload size for images uploaded through the FCKeditor. So the hosting company had run a script and put a php.ini file in every directory to change the upload maximum (I guess they took a shotgun approach to fix the problem). So when I removed the php.ini file just now, Capatcha now works great. Thanks for suggesting I look there! smiley
