Hi, I'm not a developer and am unfamiliar with MODX. However, I'm doing SEO work on a site using MODX and have a problem concerning a meta refresh.

The home page www.domain.com redirects to a subfolder www.domain.com/folder. A meta refresh activates this redirect and as this is bad SEO practice I would like to remove it.

However, I'm not sure how to do this as I have never used MODX before.

    Can anybody help??

The site is using MODX Evolution 1.0.15 and is hosted on an Apache server running php 5.2.

Any help or guidance to tell me how to remove the meta refresh would be appreciated.

    Many Thanks

      Hello,

It depends a little on how the website was built, but you should be able to remove the meta tag from the template.

You would look under Elements > Manage Elements > Templates. It's possible the tag is contained within a chunk, so if you see something like {{header}} you would look for a chunk with the same name.

Hi AMDbuilder, I tried your suggestion but can't find any meta refresh code.

Maybe this quote from an email I received from the developer, explaining the need for a redirect will help?

I installed the CMS in a folder - so I needed a way to automatically set that folder as the home - I know there are other ways to do this - I chose the simple re-direct

Does this make any sense to anybody?

          Thanks

You should be able to install MODX in the webroot, avoiding the need for a redirect, or use .htaccess to mask the folder giving the illusion the site runs from the webroot.

If you see the line when viewing the site source, it's going to exist somewhere in the template, a chunk, or possibly a snippet or tv. Those are more advanced if you will, so the template/chunk are most likely.

It's hard to say how the redirect is being handled without seeing how the site is build.
