I had to install a website on a 1&1 shared hosting ; I need the dates to be displayed in french. At this date they are displayed in english.

When I check the phpinfo, i get :

    Timezone Database internal
    Default timezone Europe/Paris

Not sure about that first line, i uploaded a php.ini which contains the required date.timezone, but the dates remain in english.

1&1 service tells me to ensure myself that I upload the php.ini in all the related script folders and subfolders.

Which folders shall those be ?
Sorry for that ⇧ , I'm no dev but I wanna try

Depending on how they configured their web servers, it's probably looking for a php.ini in the web root (alongside your index.php and also alongside your manager/index.php). Make sure you update the lexicon settings in the manager to reference fr instead of en.

the date/timezone setting won't make a difference in the display language for format of the date and time, you need to use setlocale() for that. http://php.net/manual/en/function.setlocale.php

Thanks to you both I just discovered that one can set the locale directly in the system settings > lexicon. I wasn't aware of that before. It's working now !
