I moved AND upgraded a site from one server to another, it was an old Evolution site (I don't use evo from long time so I'm also rusty).
Now I can't access the image browser of tinymce because it says "cannot create images folder" when I open it. And also the file manager says "I cannott access this folder".
I tried to reset the paths in the system config, to no avail.
I tried to put the physical paths there, but they get overwritten (resetted?) as soon as I click Save.
This is my system info paths:
    MODX_BASE_PATH /home/erebusar/public_html/trattoria-ala.it/
    MODX_BASE_URL /
    MODX_MANAGER_URL http://www.trattoria-ala.it/manager/
    MODX_MANAGER_PATH /home/erebusar/public_html/trattoria-ala.it/manager/
    MODX_SITE_URL http://www.trattoria-ala.it/

    What's wrong here?
Something in the config.php maybe? But I can't see a place to put the path there (as it is in revo instead).

    What could be the problem?

      MODX_BASE_PATH /home/erebusar/public_html/trattoria-ala.it/

This does look strange, usually there's no TLD appended to public folder in most configurations.
Is your domain parked over an account in cPanel?

Yes, it is hosted on siteground on a cpanel and since I have several domains each have his own domain "folder"

Any suggestion? I have a similar problem on another site just moved in the same environment but under Revolution.
I can "browse" (both with file manager and tinymce) only a folder that I don't know exactly where is. I see folders that probably are either normally invisible and outside of public_html (but would be strange) or inside some subfolder of modx. I'm a bit tired just now but I will search better and tell what this folder is later.

That's okay, as long as those domains are not also accessible with <erebus-art.tld>/trattoria-ala.it/

Your host should probably go through Apache logs to see if there are permission problems (file/folder ownership) somewhere.
What happens if you try Evolution with the following configuration settings:
          File Manager/path [(base_path)]
          File Browser/base path [(base_path)]assets/

          ?

Sorry for the very late reply but I had a baby and was soooo busy that I left all my websites in the dust for a while tongue

I tried those settings both in revo and evo installation, I controlled all the files paths to no avail, it continues to not work.

I don't understand, I tried also changing the paths but to no avail, I don't get any change. sad

Oh, I told "also revolution" because I have a similar problem on the same server with a revo installation.
This time I can access the file manager BUT I see a strange directory with folders that I think are of the server apache base directory, I don't see those even in my cpanel manager.
I tried again to change the paths to /home/erebusart/subdirectory of the site, to /subdirectory (such as /cuccioligatto.it) with slash without etc.
Again, the strange thing is it NEVER CHANGES even by changing the system path. Is that how is supposed to work??
I also changed those paths in the config.inc files, no change.
Tried to flush cache and permissions, reload browser, always the same.

Ok, actually the revo install works after I changed the directory of base_path into config.php to: /home/erebusar/public_html/cuccioligatto.it/

But in Evolution there is no such directory in config.php and if I change it in the manager system config it don't works.
What happens is that the site works, but when I try to access file manager I get "I can't access this folder".
Also if I try to insert an image in tinymce I get "I cannot create images" folder.

I'm going to try to update to last evo install and rerun setup to see if it catches something

Mhhh ok even after update nothing changes.
If I set the base path for the manager to the correct directory, it gets reset to defaul base path (after saving, I return in the config and is resetted)
