I'm interested in making a couple of custom pages in the manager that list specific resources and link to those. The idea is to create some internal work "to do" list for the client, where they can see a list like: "All resources without a description" or "All resources where TV x is empty".
This is easy to do front end, by I really think it belongs in the manager - my problem is that I never made a CMP before and I'm not sure exactly what is needed to create this.
Can anyone help me with a reference to an extra or tutorial that does something like this, where I can look at the code?

Thanks Susan,
The dashboard solution seems to be an easy way around it!
Do you (or someone else) know if it is possible to create multiple dashboards and then link to them from a custom top menu item, or is it only possible to display the dashboard that has been assigned in the user group?
A CMP's action file can return plain HTML if you want it to, and the CMPs don't have to be under Components, so you should be able to create a Dedicated menu option with a drop-down under it for the individual searches.
If you create a namespace and set its path, the index.php file at that path (under core/components/namespace) will be executed and what it returns will appear in the MGR panel.
You could have one index.php file that handled all options, or create a different one for each action.
