Has anyone implemented the PhpDig search engine in a MODx driven project? Is it difficult or easy? What about indexing PDF files?

Has it been updated in a long time? We’ve worked with a company that has it implemented and we created a custom plugin to trigger re-indexing. Based on it’s update frequency though, I’d be hesitant.

One of my clients doesn’t like the searching via AS snippet. He would have search function like Google. The problem is: we have some sub-content areas on many pages filled by other "sub-documents" (for multi-using of same content like addresses or company statements and so on).
Searching the whole site will find these sub-content documents but I can’t link results to this docs because they are no complete documents (no layout, no navigation, only partial content). Setting these sub-docs unsearchable is also false way. The content must be found by searching but within the "parent" document.
Therefore I’m looking for an open source search script processing rendered pages for indexing whole page content. Google API isn’t the right way because of the incalculable indexing process by Google. After publishing a news it takes some days until finding this content via Google.
PhpDig sounds like a possible solution. Or are there other ideas?

Why not make the sub-documents non-searchable and just use Ajax Search? The flag on every page for that should work just fine.

Ignore me ... you are correct. A proper search engine is indeed what you need I believe.
