Our Library will be moving to Modx. Google analytics indicates our entire website peaks at 1000 views in an hour with an average of 60-90 viewers at any given time.
I know very little about servers or improving their responsiveness to traffic.
What are the key features I should ask of our IT staff? (ram, processor speed, etc) Any added libraries/apps for an Ubantu Linux installation?
I have been using getcache on other lower traffic sites to improve performance and saw some real improvement. Anyone have experience or recommendations or other caching strategies (StatCache, etc)?

Could you tell us more about your current hosting environment? It's hard to recommend upgrades without understanding where the problem exists in the first place.

We launched this year an short-time online shop for some limited goods.
We peaked with about 197.000 clicks within the first hour.
On an 4 Core Server with 32 GB RAM running ngix + phpfpm
We measured that the default FileCache was the fastest solution for this application and dont use any very specific things.
This Project did its initial peak when switching online, was a bit slow with loading times on about 5-8 sec. (had an online in xxx seconds countdown... no really good idea ,) with hunderts of F5 People )
But after just some minutes we are gone back to < 300ms.
getCache is always good to transport similar structures to multiple resources withour rerendering. Like the navigation, footer etc. This is mostly used every time on our projects. Speeding up the resource cache rebuild.
There are lots of things to do high speed applications, especially with custom snippets.
Things that can slow you down are very very versatile and must be analysed one by one.
