I've been wreckin' my brain trying to figure out a way for MIGX to support a multi-custom-column model for the user to edit.
Simply put, we'd want a TV where someone could keep on adding columns to a single row and then work with those columns and display them accordingly. Normally I'd simply whip out a component to do this, as it's a lot easier (not only on the eyes), but we're on a strict timeframe in which I don't have those resources. So understandably, I'd recommend MIGX.

While, as scalable as MIGX is, the documentation is utter and complete rubbish. The moments in which I haven't used MODX as a CMF, I've used MIGX to supply additional functionality to the user and resources. While in basic usage MIGX works fine, the rest of the component leaves something to be desired for.

I'd be willing to reach out to the developer on this one and help him straighten some things out, like a manager component and some additional documentation. I wholeheartedly believe that MIGX has a ton to offer MODX as it stands right now, but all of that is buried beneath a lack of documentation, weird out-of-context terms and too many backwards compatible fixes.

TLTR: MIGX is a great component, MIGX's documentation leaves something to be desired for, we need a scalable MIGX TV with custom, user addible columns and values, which in turn the backend supports.

Small note: I got this idea to simply create 2 TVs; one to define the columns and on page reload, read those rows inside a PHP based config to supply the configuration for the TV Grid, the popup form and the output on the frontend. Just an idea.

Your idea with the 2 TVs sounds doable.

If I remember correctly, I had done something like that a while ago for a customer.
      Let me search for it.

couldn't find it, but did quickly some configurations, which seems to work:
        https://github.com/Bruno17/migxCustomColumns

        upload the files.
At the MIGX - CMP do 'import from package' package-name: migxcustomcolumns

        Create two MIGX - TVs
        name: migxcustomcolumns
        configuration: migxcustomcolumns

        name: migxcustomcolumnsgrid
        configuration: migxcustomcolumnsgrid

Here are the two configuration-files, which get imported:
        https://github.com/Bruno17/migxCustomColumns/tree/master/core/components/migxcustomcolumns/migxconfigs

And this php-configuration does the magic (creating the formtabs and columns magically)
