Hi, I am trying to create a form where a user fills in information that gets saved in the DB and the data filled posted to a webpage where it shows as a news with pagination. This data should be editable by another form or page. I have good php/sql and DHTML, but i am trying to implement this using modx. Any clue how to get started would be appreciated. I have read the help, documentation and tutorials on the site.

      Hi,

you should have a look at FDM snippet (see "in development forum").

Hi Heliotrope, FDM is not what i wanted. I want webusers to be able to fill a request form that doesn’t email anything, but adds an entry to the db where information about requests from this db will be used for display on page. Another front end will be used to edit the data on the request list page.

how do we catch and redirect the data posted by eform? also can’t modx do sql updates? any api references to that? then after that update, can we still have eform go to a page where all requests have been posted, and display them with pagination? also can anyone comment on how to create the pagination part?

You might want to give a look at eForm2db
This being said, are you sure your meant FDM and not eForm ?

FDM does not email anything, it allows webuser to edit document from the frontend, and that includes modifying the value of TVs smiley

and how about getting the data from that custom table and displaying it one after the other on a page with pagination support to older requests.

That would need a custom snippet to query your custom tables and format the output. eForm is for managing forms and form input, as its name would indicate.

There are a few snippets that will display db tables with pagination. There is one I have used named loopDbChunk where you can style the output with a chunk.
