Controlling Where TVs and Chunks Appear on the Output Page.

I know it's tough – at least for me – to control where a person is going to want items to appear on their web page. At this point, chunks and TVs display whereever I put them in the template.

Is a way to give the user some freedom in the order or where items display. For example, I have a MIGx Accordion and the TV is called just below the div that contains my main content. But what if the admin for the site creates a new page and wants an accordion to appear above the content region or maybe in a right column. Is there a way for me to give the admin that freedom. Would I just pepper the template with instances of a selector TV, and then in the selector put checkbox option (i.e. Display at Top of Page. Display at Bottom of Page. Display in Right Sidebar. etc.)

Maybe I need to just have a TV, and the admin can call accordion chunk in the TV. So checkbox selector for standard display on the page, but if they want it in a right column, they'd just type in [[$myAccordionPanelName]]

Kind of spinning here on this, but I thought I'd reach out for tips on how other approach this scenario.

Well, that's exactly what ContentBlocks is for, but it's not free. I believe that there is a somewhat similar free extra, although nowhere near as powerful, but I can't recall what it's called right now.

Otherwise, combinations of chunks and TVs is the way to handle it. You can drag-and-drop chunks, TVs and snippets into the resource editing field to automatically insert the tags in place.

In other words, it's a matter of cost vs convenience.

I'm familiar with ContentBlocks but have yet to use it. Very happy with Redactor thus far though. I like the zen interface and the ability to easily create custom styles. Maybe the flexible positioning of chunks and TVs is something to aspire to. For now my site and pages has a pretty predetermined design and layout and I am essentially the admin. MIGx makes it so much easier for me to make updates and add content.

Whether or not you can drag-and-drop into the resource content field depends on the RTE, some work and some don't. In all cases, though, I'm pretty sure you can drag-and-drop into the RTE's HTML code view.
