Everett has done a nice job of explaining WP's faults. IMO, WP is fine if you can find a theme you like and never want to make any serious changes to it.
That said, I don't really have enough experience with WP to speak authoritatively on it. As I said, I used it once. I modified the default Kubrick theme to get what I wanted and found the design and architecture unbearable to work with. After the fact, people have told me that the Kubrick theme was a poor choice and is not representative, but it's the
default theme for WP (or was then).
