Answered Add users' content to home page based on it's rating? Allow users to post in a blog like format? Cannabis?

Please don't tl;dr this. It is very important to me. I hope I posted in the right category. >.<

I was just introduced to MODx today. I watched some of the tutorial videos and I love it, far superior to WP, Drupal, Joomla etc..

I have MODx installed and...

I'm trying to create a website where cannabis growers can create a log or chronicle of their grow from start to finish, with pictures. I want the top rated grows to be featured on the home page. I would like each grow to be chronicled and displayed by the day, with pagination for each day.

Here is a brief breakdown of the flow for the viewer:

You see a featured grow on the home page, you click it.
You are taken to the growers profile/grows/clicked-grow.
The first thing you should see is that grow's first entry, it's first day essentially.
Viewers should be able to comment on each day's entry, separately, NOT like a forum post where it all gets ran together, more like a blog entry.
Viewers should be able to rate each grow as a whole by using the Like method, and rate the grower the same way.
There should NOT be any dislike option.
The top x amount of grows that have the most likes should be displayed on the home page as featured grows.

Here is a brief breakdown of the flow for the grower:

Grower creates account, gets approved to post.
Grower starts a new grow chronicle, and posts the first day's record.
--Grower can upload up to 12 images for each post.
--Grower can only post one entry per grow chronicle per day.
--Grower can interact/communicate with viewers via the comment section.
Grower continues to post daily, weekly, whatever, as desired, just no more than one entry per day.
Grower can moderate his own comments section.

Users should be able to choose if they want to register as a grower or an observer/subscriber, they get a badge for either.

Site moderators can be assigned in the administration/manager area.

I don't even know how to let other users post yet but I need to know that this can be done relatively easily before I get too much time into this platform.

I would be very interested in hiring someone to help me develop the site.

Displaying content is easy with getResources/pdoResources. There are commenting extras (I prefer MODXTalks myself, although the Russian documentation is a bit awkward) and rating/voting extras.

There are two ways to handle user-submitted content. One is a severely limited permissions policy to use the Manager with the QuickBar extra to provide a menu on the front-end. The other is to use the front-end completely, using something like BobRay's NewsPublisher.

Plugins that are invoked on saving a new user can automatically create resources, resource groups and user groups and assign new users and their resources to these and any other appropriate groups, such as "grower" or "subscriber". You could have users register with their preference, be assigned to "subscriber" by default, have a moderator notified of the registration, and the user not fully enabled until the moderator approves the registration.

The MIGx extra would probably play a large part in such a project, but even if not, it comes with a very useful snippet for creating dynamic Media Sources based on a resource ID. So each user's initial parent resource would have its own limited access to the file system for managing images.

Is it difficult to allow the growers to moderate their own comments section? I think it will cut the workload for site mods and admins.

I've been doing some more playing with MODx and it's extremely powerful. As a developer I think it's really an innovation in web application engines. It's more like a framework. I've been perusing the documentation but haven't found a list of class and method references for developers. Does one exist?

Do you think this project may benefit more from some custom package development or could it be done entirely with existing packages?
