Answered Is it ok to delete unused default Evo snippets?

Hello,

I am just writing with a query re some of the MODX snippets that get packaged with Evo.

There are a number of snippets that are included with Evo which I do not directly / consciously use but I am unsure whether they are required.

Given the recent security patch for Jot I thought perhaps it would be a good idea to delete some of the unused snippets.

I do not use them directly / consciously but do any of the above used snippets have dependencies on the below? Or is it safe to delete these unused snippets?



Actually I will probably keep the Login snippets as they sound like they might come in handy.

So basically: Jot, Reflect and ListIndexer.

There are plans to remove them all out of the default Evo and use PackedManager to install them. Like it should be and Revolution works.

I think this isn't done yet because the Modx team has to add the listing API on their servers for the packages but maybe I'm wrong.
(I don't know how this works.)

I deleted Jot, Reflect and ListIndexer given I am not using them and noticed no difference in the front end.

This brings up question re the default Evo login snippets.
As an Evo user, do you use the default WebLogin snippet or the old WebLoginPE snippet for webuser login areas (eg front end) of Evo sites? [ed. note: nickf08 last edited this post 11 years, 10 months ago.]

No not to log into the manager. I think its only used when you install the sampledata where webusers need to login. I always delete the chunk but actually can delete the snippets (FTP and in manager) etc aswell.

Woops, sorry for the misunderstanding fourroses666 - I meant for web user logins: using the default Evo WebLogin snippet or the old WebLoginPE snippet for web users (people logging into the front end)?

But I was wondering about manager users too and those snippets, thanks for clarifying - so I will delete those login snippets for non login sites.

On default weblogin is installed.
But it depends whats the call of your loginform is I guess.
You could test by looking at the snippets on FTP and rename the folder and see if it still works.

I would remove the login snippets as well if you are not planning to use them.
You can always add them later (by using the installer script https://github.com/evolution-cms/installer) or update
