Hi,
I try to make a layered navigation block as it exists in Prestashop to search resources based on characteristics.
It seems that it is a bit like a faceted search, but all that is a bit blurry to me.
Has anyone already done this ?
Is there any extra that I should use ? Advsearch, taxonomies, SimpleSearch or anything else ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could just get a full list using GetResources and filter using jQuery..

There's also a recent addon called "Taxonomies" that could work but I've not worked with it myself yet.
I think the usual way to do that in MODX is with JavaScript making an Ajax call to a getList processor. The JS checks the various selector fields on the page and includes them as params to the getList processor, which does the search and returns a JSON string with the results. A success function in the JS then displays them.
I have not worked with Taxonomies either, but while it might be a part of this, I don't think it will give you the display or the UI. Since it uses TVs, I think it might also be fairly slow.
Using ClassExtender to extend the modUser object (or doing it the old-fashioned way), would give you the extra resource fields you need (and add them to the Create/Edit Resource page), and the getList processor could do very fast xPDO queries to get the results.

Not entirely true:
Bringing Taxonomies to MODX Revolution: add Categories or Tags to any MODX page. Unlike other TV-based solutions, this Extra uses dedicated custom tables to provide flexible and efficient searching and true support for hierarchies.

And it does give you a UI on a separate tab when editing the resource. One of my clients was using it so I noticed it while looking for something else in their site. The screenshot on the package page also shows it.
I stand corrected. Thanks Mark.
I was confused by the phrase "unlike other TV-based solutions," which implies that it's a TV-based solution. I should have read it more carefully.
