Rewriting the page name for index.php

I am having some difficulty with the rewrite of the name a the index file on a new site I am developing in modx. I renamed the index.php file to newsite.php and then updated the .htaccess file to reflect the name but the pages are not functioning correctly. Do I need to updated something in the dociment parser as well?

If friendly urls will not work is there anyway I can change "index.php?id" to "newsite.php?id" when navigationg throughout the site. I attempted to make this change in the document.parser file but it didn’t seem to do anythign - is there any other way to handle this??

Just incase anyone is still trying to do this, you can change the controller filename under system settings.

System > System Settings > Gateway > Request Controller Filename

Change from index.php to new site.php.
