    Hello

Please forgive me if this is already done. I m very new to modx and about to install for a test on my localhost. However, as i follow the installation instruction, during the very last step, the "database connection failed!" Installation error is shown. I am not so sure this is because I have no database file yet (which i suppose modx might create for me, if not , how should i proceed?). Any suggestions are very appreciated.

You need to create an empty database for MODx to populate.
Normally this is done using a tool like phpMyAdmin, usually found @ http://localhost/phpmyadmin/

Usually MODx will create the database for you, even if the database connection check reports the failure (since it doesn’t exist yet). But sometimes your database user doesn’t have permission to create a database, so you have to use whatever control panel feature your hosting provided to create the database before installing MODx.
