What is the proper way to handle a custom table that is only going to be used for select queries (the R in CRUD)? Does it need to be given a proper schema and fully incorporated into the MODX API functionality? The full data load was imported, and it will never change.

I must say that with BobRay's CreateXpdoClasses snippet making a custom database table into a proper MODX class is a snap! And now I can just use getCollection to fetch whatever I want.
