    Hi

    I’m clearly having a senior moment and have failed to grasp a concept.

    I’ve installed modx on my local host server in the root of an existing dremweaver cs3 site. ie htdocs\modx-9612\ etc

    I’ve accessed the panel and created a new cunk which is listed under the manage resources---chuncks option.

    I then opened one of my docs from the site root and inserted the following code:

    $modx->getChunk(’menu’); $modx->putChunk(’menu’);

    It seems to be inserted as text rather than code

    What am I missing?

    thanks

    Ian

      In a document you would put:
      {{NameOfChunk}}

      to display it’s content.

          Hi

          really sorry to be so dense but I’m failing drastically.

          What I have is my htdocs folder and under that in it’s own directory I have MODX

          In my HTdocs I have my dreamweaver created site, on a blank page in the code view I added:

          <body>

          {{footer}}
          </body>

          But the {{footer}} comes up as text

          Cheers

            You would need to set up a web server on your machine for local testing.
            If you use a mac then most people use MAMP for windows XAMP, though I use Wampserver for Windows
            Then you add content via the Manager after logging in through your web browser on your local machine.
            MODx serves pages from the database to the index.php page in your site root.
            Dreamweaver can be used to create html that you then copy and paste to the documents inside MODX but you don’t normally create complete standalone pages.
