    Has anyone got an Events Calendar working on Revo 2.3? I had hoped mxCalendar was to work on 2.3 but it doesn't.... all the others look a little flakey and none supported to me... hope to be proven wrong however! Anyone got one working? Church Events seems to be closest but I don't want the web users to be able to add events - just the Manager users...

      Not tried it myself, but have you seen EventsX? (http://rtfm.modx.com/extras/revo/eventsx)

          One option I can think of is to use getResources/pdoResources to pump out the javascript array, which you would pass to a jQuery calendar (or equivalent), therefore managing your events as resources in the tree.

          It'll be limiting in terms of having multiple dates per event (unless you have a resource per date, if that's not a problem, which it might not be) but it's one way to control calendar data from with MODX without any kind of CMP.

            I like the sound of that idea Chris. Sounds like the most reliable solution! I can't get migxCalendar to work - they are all so fussy and unreliable!

            Any tips on how to use getResources to create the JS array? and then pass it into a jQuery calendar - say the Twitter Bootstrap one? http://www.jplugins.net/bootstrap-calendar/?demo and https://github.com/Serhioromano/bootstrap-calendar

              Looking at this example JS from their site ...

              var calendar = $('#calendar').calendar({events_source: function(){
                  return  [
                     {
                         "id": 293,
                         "title": "Event 1",
                         "url": "http://example.com",
                         "class": "event-important",
                         "start": 12039485678000, // Milliseconds
                         "end": 1234576967000 // Milliseconds
                     },
                     ...
                 ];
              }});

              ... do something like ...

              var calendar = $('#calendar').calendar({events_source: function(){
                  return  [
                     [[getResources?]]
                 ];
              }});

              ... in the page, setting the relevant properties for getResources. Set each row to use a chunk like ...

              {
                "id": [[+id]],
                "title": "[[+pagetitle]]",
                "url": "[[+url]]",
                "class": "[[+link_attributes]]",
                "start": [[+tv.startdate]],
                "end": [[+tv.enddate]]
              },

                There is calendar extra coming from the core team, check out this screenshot from the MODX blog:

                  Thanks Chris - yeh, was working on something very similar to that and have it working really nicely! Thanks - Just want to get it working in modal format and displaying the event title rather than a dot - then a pretty good solution

                    I've tried EventsX in Revo 2.3.1 and it's working for me.

                    What I still can't see is how to give a certain admin user the permission to work with that extra (to enter new events) - and not to let him see most of the documents in the tree.

                    Or should I give him a document in the frontend to enter events into EventsX? Is there an extra to populate a backend table with data from the frontend? Thanks for you hints!

                      This doesn't mean it's in the core, in the same way that VersionX isn't in the core. It's just a screenshot with a calendar extra included (whatever that extra might actually be).

                      Can't see a Calendar ever being a high priority feature in the core, especially as it's solution specific. Sorry sad

                      Dubbs - I'm glad that suggestion has worked out for you smiley.
