Your good! When I created the export, I did not include the event logs because I understood they would make the file quite large and are not really needed. Did I get that wrong?

The event logs are needed (as you found out
). The *contents* of them is what is not needed. So, for future reference, you should empty the event logs but include them in the transfer.
