    Hey!
i’ve installed modx before, never had a mishap, but this time its all screwed up. When I jump to the manager, all I get is a apache directory listing... Tried loging in on the main site index, it’s thre but login returns "user not found" for the admin?! Checked my files and db, it looks ok (using CPanel). Double checked CPanel’s index manager and it’s on default... Any hints for me?

    my setup:
    PHP version 4.4.8
    MySQL version 4.1.22-standard
    Apache version 1.3.41 (Unix)

If you’ve uploaded MODx to your server normally you go to your-domain.com/install/
After successful installation you’re taken to the Manager Login page
      Where did it go wrong?

Thanks bunk! Installation was smooth sailing, passed all checks. MySQL, permissions ok etc. smiley

It was right after install, when you’re supposed to jump into manager (modx’s control panel) that things went wrong. My browsers nav bar pointed to mysite.com/manager but all I got was a TomCat Servlet Index Listing. huh

It seems Apache Tomcat JSP Servlet has a dynamic folder named manager that causes a conflict with ModX’s manager folder. I’m talking to my host’s support and as soon as I get some response, I’ll post wether this was what caused the problem... wink

I’m willing to bet it is. There are known issues with Tomcat and MODx 0.9.6.*. The next version, 0.9.7 (at alpha stage currently), addresses that issue and allows you to rename the manager/ to anything you want (eg, admin/, foobar/, secretcave/).

Yeah, I’ve seen the Tomcat issues in the forum.
If they can’t sort it out maybe install MODx in a sub directory and use .htaccess & FURL’s to redirect?
