Hey guys,
Don’t be mad. I have looked around and I don’t really see anything explaining this very well.
Are there and docs that will explain to me how to take an existing site written in html and css and take those pages and incorporate them into ModX?
Thank you.

Mad? We appreciate the interest in MODx. There are several migration guides. The one at the site in my sig is kind of for beginners to MODx. If you use it, please let me know if you find any places where you’re stumped and I can improve it.
Here are a couple of other related links:

I know there are other good guides to migrating an existing site to MODx but, like you, I can’t find them.

Wow, Thank you.
I really enjoy the overall mentality of the community here that I have seen. It is very welcoming.
I do believe however that there needs to be documentation that is easy to find regarding my question. I have looked over all the documentation which goes in to great detail about all the aspect and components of ModX, but very little on the many way to get started, and a step through on how to set your current site up with ModX.
I am sure there are tons who already have a site before they fine ModX and could benefit from this information if it was very easy to find.
Thank you again.
Well I have figured it out mostly.
I have made my index successfully using a template and a document containing the content.
However, when I make links to the other documents I have created the lead to a 404 page. The address above however is correct.
From the manager, the page IS published and as far as I can tell all the setting are correct, but it just will not show up.
Nearly always the site cache is the problem.
Use the Site => Clear Cache tabs from the manager.

Actually the problem is due to the friendly URl settings.
If I don’t use them then it works, but gives me URLs like .com/index.php?id=19
I guess I just need to read up on the Friendly URL’s. I know my server is set to allow them. I also used the .htaccess that was supplied with the script.
You need to edit the .htaccess file and add your domain name in order for it to do the friendly URLs. Once you have the FURLs working, check to make sure that users coming in on both yourdomain.com and www.yourdomain.com end up where they should.
Congratulations on getting this far, though. If everything works with FURLS off, you’re pretty close to success.

Actually the preview doesn’t specify a page URL at all...
all it does is send you to whatever is the default Apache start page up one level from the manager. That would be index.php, the same as if someone just navigates to "
http://mydomain.com/".
[edit]Ah, I misunderstood... you are referring to individual document previews, not the main site preview. Hmm... that
should be easy enough to fix is more complicated than I thought it might be...
