    Hello everybody,

I basically would like to prevent the manager/index.php to be publicly accessible. Maybe by renaming it to manager/index.inc.php, but I am not sure if that would be possible in MODx. FYI, I set my Lighttpd to deny direct access to any *.inc.php files.

In *cough* Drupal *cough*, I could have a single login form for both user and administrator. So when both types of users login in, they will be redirected to public index.php. Except for user with administrator right, we can set a link to get to the administrator’s control panel.

I would like to achieve the same thing in MODx, but with a little bit of differences. When a user with administrator right login in, I would like to have it directly redirected to the administrator control panel.

How could I do that in MODx?

I am sorry to ask this as I could not find the solution after a few hours trying and reading the documents. Maybe I missed them. So if you could point the documentations related to this, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks a lot in advanced for your help.

    Anto

No you can’t rename the manager index file AFAIK. I’ve never even considered denying access to a login screen to the manager, but I’m sure there is some way to do it if you really want that.

There’s a ManagerLogin add-on in the repository which Manager users can use to login from the front-end; otherwise, I’m not clear on what you are asking for. QuickEdit also has a way for users logged in to access the backend.

Also, please don’t *cough* double-post *cough* your questions under slightly different topics.

I am aware of ManagerLogin snippets. But unfortunately it does not support CAPTCHA. I will try to understand it first, and then try to integrate any PHP CAPTCHA generator. I am not sure which one at the moment, maybe phpchaptcha. I hope this one is quite simple for inexperience PHP programmer like smiley

I wanted to post both questions into one, but I decided to seperate them as they are totally different topics. This one is about the login form, and the other is about the navigation link.

After digging a bit deeper, I think this one is quite hard to achieve due to the fundamental architecture of MODx which separates the web user and manager login forms. Even the database tables of both are separated. Sadly to say, this is worst than the implementation in Joomla!, e107, Typolight and some other CMS’ that I have tested, especially in *cough* Drupal *cough* laugh. But with about 4 days experience in using MODx, maybe I am totally wrong about this. Maybe this is the best implementation. I don’t know. You guys know better.

I am not an easy person to give up trying, so if anybody had any suggestions, anything at all, I would really appreciate that.
