First post, seasoned web developer, newbie to ModX. From what I’ve learned so far, this system is the shiznit!

My question: I’ve recently developed a Membership Accounting application for a client. They have paid memberships which they want to manage online, (including signup and renewals). Access to restricted parts of their website is one of the benefits of membership. I know ModX has it’s own webuser/permissions model, but say I want to use the membership model/database I’ve developed for them instead?

Does anyone have any advice on how and where to start setting up webuser access based upon a separate database?

    Thanks in advance.

WLPE (WebLoginPE) allows for a seperate database to be used for non-MODx crucial user info (fields besides username, password, etc.). You’d have to port over your users basic data to the web_users table, though...

So you are saying I would have to find some way to synchronize the two user databases? That is exactly what I’m trying to avoid, but I guess I will do it if it means I don’t have to hack the core.

Perhaps I can modify the WebLoginPE snippet to work the way I want it to. Anyway, thanks, that’s a good start.
