frontend Auto-login from a url link

hello,

part of a functionality of my website is sending email updates, containing links to latest uploaded documents and posts.

any suggestion so that when they click a link on the email message, they are redirected to the website, and are automatically logged in? (without having to enter their username and password ... lazy users )

I’d imagine that you’d have to put their username and password as parameters in the url contained in the email.

e.g. http://yoursite.tld/?u=xxx&p=xxx

Not at all secure IMO. Plus, I don’t know how you would get a script to press the submit button.
