I have a couple of front end users that log in to write and publish articles to the site and sometimes if they spend too long composing, when they hit the submit button it asks them to sign in and they lose all work. For now, I’ve asked them to either use another window to make sure they are signed in first or copy the entire article before sending but this is a hassle.

Is there a way to make their session longer? (described in layman’s terms)

    I’m using version 0.9.6

    Thanks

If you are on a dedicated server, you can modify the PHP session configuration, either globally, or just for your site (via htaccess php_flags/values) to make them last longer. By default, they are generally only guaranteed to last for 20 minutes on the server.

Unfortunately, with 0.9.6, there is no facility to configure or control this behavior other than in the underlying PHP configuration, but 0.9.7 and beyond will allow complete control over session behavior as it provides it’s own database-powered session handler and allows custom session handlers to be supplied by developers.

Sounds great. I’ll look forward to that release.

        Thanks for the quick reply.
