Hi, I’ve changed 404 page setting from ’1’ (default) to other page’s id and still when a wrong url is typed it sends me to the main page. And the other question - is there a way to use an external 404 page?
PS. I am using 0.9.6.1 and recently migrated from another host.
ganeshXL: yes it’s published and can be viewed by typing its URL. And as for your solution.. Thanks but as I have 404 page not working in my MODx install, and, I guess, I will not have an in-MODx solution to that (as there is no single thread in the whole forum on that) - I wanted to try an Apache 404 error page.
Thanks again ganeshXL. It seems like .htaccess setting ’ErrorDocument 404 /404.html’ is ignored - nothing changed since I added this line. But I figured out interesting fact: if the wrong url looks like:
-
http://infinitiv.ru/3453453453 - we get the right 404 (that is set in configuration)
-
http://infinitiv.ru/3453453453.html - we get the first page
-
http://infinitiv.ru/dfsdfsd - we get the first page too
With fURLs disabled:
-
http://infinitiv.ru/index.php?id=5339ererterererwerww - right 404
-
http://infinitiv.ru/rterterterte - first page
-
http://infinitiv.ru/453453453 - right 404
So, its seems like the right 404 page is returned only when wrong URL contains only digits... What that could be?
Please anyone! Maybe there’s a way to override the .haccess MODx rewrite rule to let apache parse 404 error?
