I have set up 4 user groups.
1) "admin" and can edit all content, including chunks, snippets, etc
2) "marketing" and can only "contributors" (ie: can only create, add, edit and delete pages).
3) "sales" and is the same as marketing.
4) "IT" and is same as marketing.
Note, that each user group can only add/edit/delete pages within the folder of the same name in the following document structure:
0 - Home page
1 - Services (Just a weblink, no content)
- "Marketing" (Folder)
- Marketing page 1
- "Sales" (Folder)
- Sales page 1
- "IT" (Folder
- IT page 1
So, "marketing" can only manage marketing items, sales can only manage sales items, etc, etc.
The "Services" page is only editable by admin. No other user group can manage this page, or the homepage.
Problem: "User groups don’t see their pages"
When you login as either "marketing", "sales", "IT" you cannot see your user group specific pages at all.
Solution: Make "Services" editable by other group groups.
However, if you specifiy that "marketing", "sales", and "IT"
can manage "Services", this means that you can see your user group specific pages fine.
Problem: User groups can delete the parent folder ("Services")
Possible solution ? --> Make it so that the user groups cannot delete any pages.
Problem: How does the admin know what page to delete?
Is there another way to prevent the user groups from deleting any page that they shouldn’t, or alternatively; stopping user groups from deleting the parent page/folder?
If I’ve not explained what the problem is, I’ll try my best to explain a little more.
Thanks.
