I just noticed, that the default MODx template after choosing to install the default MODx site at the installation is advertising "Valid XHTML". But when you click on the Link the W3C HTML validator shows 15 errors. You can try it yourself here:

On the second look you will see that its all about "&" which is not converted to "&". But still, on the first look it makes quite a bad impression. I think that would be a nice (and easy too) thing to fix for the next release?

Did you just volunteer to fix it for the next release? smiley

Sure I can do that! smiley

But since the template is "Powered by MODx Template © 2006 modXhost.com" I am not sure if the original author will like it, if others apply changes to his work?

Since we’re distributing it I can say with a reasonable degree of confidence it will be OK. Thanks.

Part of the problem is related to quick edit which can be resolved by uninstalling it and or refreshing the cache I think it is...

Yes, if your page is cached and you view it when logged in to the Manager, the page will be cached with the QuickEdit markup. The last thing you do before logging out of the Manager is clear the site cache. The next time the page is viewed by a non-Manager user it will be cached normally, without the QuickEdit markup.

In fact, I think a plugin might be handy here to automatically clear the cache on manager logout. Or maybe a plugin using the OnBeforeSaveWebPageCache event to check if the viewer is a manager user, and don’t cache the page if it is. That would be simple enough; makes a nice evening project.

The validator errors I mentioned are not a QuickEdit issue. But I certainly have a look at the templates and make sure the WC3 validator does not show any errors in the future.

@Ryan: In which way would you like to get the templates?

You could just upload them as an attachment here actually.
