I’m trying to log into my website, but the captcha never shows up. Now I can’t log in to the manager. Can I disable the captcha login somehow outside of the manager? I’m using both Firefox and IE, I have the latest version of ModX.

You need to edit the database table with phpMyAdmin (or other table editor). It is the site_settings table and the setting use_captcha needs to be set to 0. When I had this problem it did not take effect immediately.

Ok, thanks.  I changed it.  I just had to find it in the database.  How long did it take before it would take affect? Hopefully not more than 10 mins...

Okay, it’s now been almost 2 hrs. Is this a problem?

It might be a cache problem, open up siteCache.idx.php in your assets/cache folder. Look for the $c[’use_captcha’] entry, and change that to 0.

Alright, thanks. But I did get it working, by deleting the veriword.php file in manager/includes and then I was able to login without having to use captcha. Then I just turned it off in the mangager and put the veriword.php file back.
