Instalation Prob:index.php giving 404 error...

Hey all,
I am new to Modx or any CMS for that matter.A noob.I hope you can help me solve my problem.

I FTPed all the contents of the zip folder onto the root folder of my host.

Problem 1.) All folders show in the file manager but no php fie is seen.Even if i re upload the php files, they are succesfully uploaded but i cant see them in my FTP program or my Cpanel file manager.

Problem 2.) If I try to go to the " http://www.yourdomain.com/install/index.php " page to see the instalation page I get a 404...

I just cant install modx on my host..

I hope you can help...I’m Desperate...

Php is running on my server i can create mysql databases... and upload files using ftp but the php files just don’t show...
