    Hello,
    I seem to have some sort of permission problem that I can’t track down. When I try to upload files using the File Manager, I get this notification:

    "Failed to copy file to destination directory - upload failed! Possible permission problems - the directory you want to upload to needs to be set to 0777 permissions."

    I’ve checked multiple times to confirm that the directory I was uploading to had permissions set to 777. I’ve also checked to make sure the File Manager Path setting is correct in my configuration.
    I also can’t upload files using the FCKEditor Resources Browser. I always get a popup giving me this error: " Failed to upload file, internal error..." Again, I confirmed that the permissions were correct and my the paths were correct in my configuration setting (I’m able to see the files already on the server just fine).
    I can upload files with no problems using an FTP client, but I want my client (the person I built the site for) to be able to upload files using MODx
    I’ve searched the forums with no luck. Anybody have any ideas? Below is my info.

    thanks,
    Tony

    * PHP version 5.1.6 (FastCGI)
    * Apache version 2.2.3
    * Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
    * MySQL version 5.0.22

    * Firefox 2.0.0.14 / IE6 / IE7
    * Mac OSX (10.4.11) / WindowsXP / Windows Vista

      Do you have different ’manager permission’ roles? Are you logged in under admin or will your client be logging in with another role?

        I use the default admin account and I created a "site admin" role for my client which has a few less permissions than the default admin (mostly related to being able to edit templates, and snippets). Neither of us can upload files.

          Check to make sure that you have the correct Resource Path set in the site settings in the Interface & Features tab.

              Yeah, as I indicated in my original post, I already checked both of these settings (multiple times, actually), and everything checks out fine. But I still can’t upload.

              hmm, I saw this thread a few minutes too late... cause I encountered the very same problem

              Well, I least I feel better knowing I’m not the only one who has encountered this. If anyone finds out anything or has any idea what might be causing this, I’d really appreciate any suggestions (PHP isn’t my strong suit). Thanks!

                Actually, I have a very similar problem as well: I can upload images and see them in the manger logged in as user #1, but my client’s login (which is a full admin account) can’t upload images or see the images I’ve already uploaded. I’ve double checked to make sure the chmod properties on the /assets/images folder is 777, and I’ve double-checked the path settings, but still, I get no love. I’d sure appreciate any thoughts about this problem, as would, I’m quite sure, "blitz" and "GaneshXL."

                Thanks a bunch.

                  OK, well for what it’s worth, I think maybe I found a solution for my problem: I assumed that by setting the file manager and resource paths in the site configuration dialog, those settings would carry over to all users of the site. I went into security\manager users\create-edit user, then chose the "User" tab and explicitly set the paths for the file manager, resource path, and resource URL. It seems like things are working better for me, now.

                  Hope that helps.

                    Upload your image files with FileZilla. FCKEditor does work it’s just that your limited to one file upload at a time. Also, when you go back into to edit content make sure you set editor back to FCKEditor. I just switched from TinyMCE and I am getting a error message but I can still get everything to work properly. Oh, and under tools check your configuration section near the bottom to make sure you set FCKEditor correctly. Iknow I am a little vague at the moment but...
