    Hello everyone,

After 11 months of using modx I finally realized that I don’t understand how modx handles emails rolleyes

I’m working on a local sandbox I just setup and I can’t get the emails sent from my modx site.
I didn’t see any smtp configs in the manager so I guess it’s not it.

what do I need to set on my local box to be able to send email?
    thanks for any help.

That depends on your local box’s configuration. For example, I can’t send mail from my MAMP local box simply because I’ve been too lazy to set up a mailer (qmail or sendmail or whatever). Also many ISPs block such traffic from a local box.

But to answer your first question, for the most part MODx uses the PHP mail() function via the phpmailer class found in manager/includes/controls.

Ok I have sendmail install. I’ll configure it and try. Thanks Susan.
