New domain with existing ModX site. URGENT HELP PLEASE!

Hi,
I have created a website in MODX and everything was fine and dandy. However, our client wanted to change the domain name. So I went to webhosting site and made a backup of all the website files and proceeded to change the domain name.

Now I am really stressing out that I won’t be able to access the original MODX files from the new domain name. Once I restore the backed-up files from the original domain, will I still be able to access the original MODX database?

I would really appreciate it if someone could respond asap so I can stop stressing (hopefully if it’s good news).

Is there no way you can just point the new domain to the hosting space?

Yes!, but do consider your static paths in case if you have assigned somewhere say- templates, editors, ...
Finally you have to care about the .htaccess file when you wish to move your MODx site.

Some hosting companies allow you to have add-on domains which means you can point multiple domain names to one website, So find it out from your website hosting company, I suggest not to do such a thing because SEO matters!

Yes the SEO matters but if the domain name is changing surely that is out of the equation anyway?
