I tried to use SMF Connector to integrate SMF into MODx, but after two days of pulling hair and gritting teeth, I realized that I can’t never make this work flawlessly just by myself.

I can see though that here, on modxcms.com smf and modx is working well, so can I ask you guys to share what method/configuration do you use here so we can save some time?

    Thanks

We have a few custom snippets that simply use SMF’s API; we avoided any deeper integration with SMF because there’s simply no easy way to do so at this point, and synchronizing the user systems is IMHO not the ideal way to approach such an integration. There is also the SMFssi snippet.

I’m building my site from scratch, so I don’t really need to synchronize users of both databases.

What I really need is that my users be able to register and login through one interface and be able to comment on the site blog and forum with only one username, like it works here at your site.

Can you tell me how should I go to do this the less painful way?

Since I’m kind of new to MODx, and I already like the way it looks so I’m determined to use this CMS for all of my future projects. smiley

EDIT: Oh and SMFssi doesn’t work with the newest versions of SMF and MODx. At least thats what the last post at its thread suggested.

Please I need to integrate SMF and MODx badly, otherwise I’m left to work with joomla which honestly I don’t really like that much sad

Please Mark, it the way you have it working with the comments it looks great. I couldn’t get SMFssi to work and no one responds in that thread.

What is wrong with this forum, no one responds?

Could it be that no one else except this site uses SMFssi ??

Did I say Mark? Oh no, my imaginary friend again huh

I guess I got confused with this other thread about the SMFssi where the developer is called Mark smiley

              sorry about that..

Our SMFssi is a slightly customized version of what SMF provides off their website. Unfortunately right now Jason and I have a tremendously intense schedule with 097 and client demands ... please have patience and understand that we DO really want you to succeed with your efforts.

In the interim, here’s the exact, unmodified one we use with MODx.
