I’ve been looking for a solution to this and can’t find one anywhere - basically I’m building a site for a music promoter. They want to add details of shows that they are putting on. I would like to add a template variable that will allow them to select a venue from a list when editing show details - and when this is displayed it should link to the URL of the venue’s site.
In order to achieve this, however, they would have to be able to manually add (or even bulk upload) a list of venues and their URLs before creating the event.
So the process would be something like this:
- Promoter adds a content item called "Big Chill House" and enters the URL http://www.bigchill.net/house.html
- Promoter continues to add other venues that they will be putting on shows at
- Promoter creates a new show listing, enters the details etc and sees a dropdown menu listing all of the venues they have already created, and selects "Big Chill House" from the list
- Once the show is published, the venue’s name is listed and is a link to the bigchill.net URL
Additional nice to have - If they are adding a show at a venue that is not on the list, they can create it while editing the show.
I’m sure that the best way to do this is through template variables, but I’m not sure how. Any ideas?
