This has been a rather strenious task. However, I will attempt to cut a long story short:

A client of ours had there website hacked, I have established the reason why; though I first have to build the website on my localhost as the website is no longer live on the web.

I ran into so many issues, from path errors, to classes not being found, etc. I imported the websites SQL details in my database via phpmyadmin, and the tables and columns now exist. I have access to the site and files through the MODx manager, though I am still getting errors and what looks like broken pages.

I am new to this CMS, if somebody would be kind enough to TV me so I could get some first hand assitance, that would be extremely appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Can you tell us more about how your running things on your local computer? It's entirely possible there are problems with your server configuration, php missing required modules, etc.

I managed to get the website up on my localhost.

It was previously hacked and taken offline by its host, I had the job of building it, and now finding and patching any security vulnerabilities, along with an upgrade.

Just out of curiosity, is there any good security plugins for this CMS?

        Thanks in advance.

The best "security plugin" is an upgrade to the latest relevant version - 1.0.14 for MODX Evolution, 2.2.15 for a MODX Revolution site using the 2.2 branch, and 2.3.1 for a MODX Revolution site using the 2.3 branch.

don't forget to remove hacked files because only an update won't fix it but you prolly would know that..
Evolution user, I like the back-end speed and simplicity smiley

Would anybody be happy to team view me for this?

Dreadfully scared of messing it up during the upgrade lol.

Just attempted to install version 2.3.1, I copied the folder files from the package into my public_html directory, and navigated to:

                http://localhost/scripts/modxupgrade/setup/

                However, I am getting a 500 error.

                Edit:

Managed to upgrade to 2.3.1 but my login credentials are incorrect. I used the details that logged me in to my panel before the upgrade.

Really hoping to get this resolved. [ed. note: tony-ridge last edited this post 12 years, 1 month ago.]
