Is there a gallery extra for the newest ModX Revo that has the built-in ability to allow a user to choose a gallery theme (e.g.: choose between Carousel and Thumbnail Carousel for a given resource) ? If not how could I implement this function and with which extra (one that is naturally customizable in service of this function). Thanks so much for any insight.

The Gallery extra has at least one optional built-in carousel.

However, it's very easy to use any of the hundreds of Javascript galleries out there. All you have to do is adjust the gallery's output chunk tpl to generate the HTML for each item that the Javascript you choose expects.
For example,
this site in development uses the very simple
Cycle2 slideshow JQuery plugin.
This is the display snippet's output chunk tpl:

Ah. So I'll go with Gallery. I was trying to decide between that and Cliché. So just to clarify: in attempting to set up a gallery with a TV switch that allows the user to choose between having either a plain carousel or thumbnail carousel (same jq slider: "Slick") for any given resource, adjusting the output chunk of Gallery will help me facilitate this? Thanks for your help.

I have no idea. I've never used the Gallerific plugin, I don't particularly like Gallerific. Actually, I seldom use the Gallery extra at all, I prefer a
MIGx gallery since it's much easier to adapt for multiple languages.
