Hey, this is my first post and i'm trying to do my first steps with modx.I basicly am Java developer, but allways wanted to learn some web development. got basic knowledge in css, html, js...

I'd like to know, if there is a way to get a community based to-do-list ?
Every user should have it's own login and should be able to post tasks to be done.
Those tasks should be listed up at a certain page, ordered by date. Perhaps if you click it you get detailled information. But thats to be done for the future.

    How should i start ?
What modules / addons should i use ?

    regards
    Compiler

you could use formit with a formit2db - hook-snippet, to store posted todos from a frontend - form to a custom-table.

you can show the todo-list and the todo-details with something like rowboat or migxLoopCollection(part of the MIGX-package)

If you need backend-management for this todo-list, you could create a CMP (Custom-Manager-Page) with help of MIGXdb.

      Tutorial to get started:

you can buy me a beer, if you like MIGX

        Thanks!

You might want to consider using Quip or ModxTalks for this. That way the user management is already taken care of.

Yes, these are commenting extras, but if you think about it, that's pretty much the same thing as what you want to do, just from a different angle.

thank you bruno, i will be looking at those modules

@scotwell thank you too, but i rather stick to a database-based solution for the reason of generating statistics from it.

Thanks, this solution worked out perfectly for me. I love to see how simple you can work with modx even when when you are beginner. MigX delivers great opportunities, thank you for that.

So now to build my website around this core i need a Community Builder, where every user has it's own profile ( i want to take statistics from my database in this profile, too)

//E: I just tried the Addon "Login" this looks fine to me, thanks for help [ed. note: compiler last edited this post 12 years, 1 month ago.]
