    Hi there,

I've just installed 2.3.1 for the first time and the manager isn't working properly. I'm not sure if its supposed to be there any more but the Resources/Elements/Files navigation doesn't appear, and when I navigate to any of the pages within the manager I just get a blank screen with the menu at the top. The only one that works is the dashboard home.

The installation seemed to run fine, and I'm using Chrome.

Any help would be much appreciated

    Thanks!

Try accessing the database via phpMyAdmin and change the compress_css and compress_js off in the system settings table

Also, while you're in the modx_system_settings table, make sure the manager_theme setting is set to default.

I've had a similar issue with several MODx sites in the upgrade to 2.3.1 and I've not been able to get to the bottom of it. To fix the Dashboard not loading, I the Recently Edited resources widget and that worked.

Still have errors when editing Resources and Elements:

Resources - Clicking the Resource to edit takes me to the page on the website (children), or, there's a hidden layer/div element (parent) - that I can delete it from the Chrome code inspector and the page works OK, but what's this Unidentified token part (see below) that's stopping me from being able to edit?
Elements - editor jerks about for a bit and either shoots up so only the bottom of the TinyMCE editor and file tree is visible, or a hidden layer sites over the top of the page, but the the website's homepage half rendered underneath.

From the code block below, it looks like the MODx Manager is trying to load the website into part of the page somehow.

I'll list the full suite of stuff to try in case there's something you haven't done yet (do these in order):

            Log out if you can.
Clear your browser cache and cookies (or go incognito/private in your browser)
Set the following System Settings in the modx_system_settings table to these values:

            manager_theme: default
            compress_css: 0
            compress_js: 0

In some upgrade situations, there are three System Settings that should be empty or missing, if you find them, empty the value field:

            session_name
            session_cookie_path
            session_cookie_domain

In the modx_site_plugins table, set the disabled field for all plugins to 1.
Delete all files in the core/cache directory.
Run Setup again in upgrade mode.

If you went incognito, stay that way to test the site. If it works and *not* being incognito breaks it again, log out, clear your browser cache and cookies, and delete all files in the core/cache directory again.

If the above works, re-enable the plugins in the Manager one by one to see if anything breaks.

If none of this works, the you may have a missing or corrupted file in the install. This is common if you transferred them individually with FTP. See this for another method: http://bobsguides.com/modx-upgrade-faq.html

If your problem is downloading packages after an upgrade to 2.3, the problem is likely mod_security at the host.

Thanks for the replies guys, I have tried you suggestionbs with no luck. Its a fresh install on a client's server which they've set up themselves. They've told me that they're server can't set paths at runtime for some reason and that manager/min/index,php is failing to find minify.php. They've offered to to add the required include_path the Apache virtual host config, does anyone know what that path should be?

Thanks Bob - that helped me get to the bottom of the problem.

I slowly re-enabled all the plugins and found that VersionX was causing the problem. I'll report the bug and try again if a new version comes out. [ed. note: maxmax last edited this post 12 years, 1 month ago.]
