    Hi,

I’ve been playing around with modx for a couple of months now and I can usually stay logged in to the manager for a while (not sure how long exactly) before I have to log in again. Today, however, I logged in as I normally do but within a minute or two I found myself having to log in again.

Now if I try and edit a page for more than about 1min, when I try to save it, I have to log in again and any work I’ve done is lost. This happens if I’m using IE7 or FF.

Also, I get logged out if I’m moveing around in the manager or not.

I’ve looked all over for a time setting for the manager session but can’t find one.

Can anybody give me an idea how to solve this?

MODx uses PHP’s default session handler in releases through 0.9.6.x. This means your ability to stay logged in is dependent on how the server is managing user sessions. By default, it’s typically 18400 seconds or about 20 minutes before PHP attempts to start removing stale sessions, though the session garbage collection settings in php.ini will also affect this.

MODx 0.9.7 and beyond will offer database-managed sessions and a full set of configuration options to manage how long sessions remain active, as well as the ability to provide your own custom session handler class.

Other possibilities for your logout problems, if this happens particularly when POSTing changes to content in the manager, include mod_security restrictions, or possible inconsistency in the URL access (i.e. accessing www.domain.tld will have a different session than domain.tld).

        Thanks for that OpenGeek,

Phew, I though I might have ballsed something up somewhere grin.

I guess the server i’m hosted on was rather stressed yesturday then. I’ve logged on today and all is back to normal grin

        Thanks again,

        J
