Rewrite ftp folder name/path for public view

Hello,

I have a ftp subfolder called "pdf" which includes different PDF files under the following path:
http://www.domain.com/assets/data/pdf/

Now I want to serve all PDF files for public viewing under the following path:
http://www.domain.com/pdf/

How can I resolve this?

Could accomplish this with a simple htaccess rewrite. Something like this:
```
RewriteRule /pdf/(.*) /assets/data/pdf/$1 [L]
```
