I have tried various parameters for about an hour now with out luck. Is there a way to tell phpThumb to create a square thumbnail from non-square images?
So for example if I wanted a 150x150 thumbnail and gave phpThumb a 1,000 x 1,500 image, it should resize that image down to 100x150 then add 25 pixel white borders on either side. Instead what it seems to do is resize to 100x150 and not fill in the sides.
That same scenario would apply if I have a horizontal image. Except phpThumb would need to fill in the top and bottom with extra pixels instead of the sides.
I don't really want to crop any of the images.
You need to specify a width, a height, then 'force aspect ratio', viz. w=150&h=150&far=1

You can also use &zc=1 which will "zoom to crop" if required

Thanks for the responses. I had actually attempted &far but didn't include the =1. The phpThumb readme file wasn't very clear about that.
