When logging into the admin and clicking on available templates, snippets or chunks after a few clicks Templates disappear from the tree as do chunks and snippets. Assets no longer appear as well as Resource files. Eventually I receive a "no data sent error" and can no longer access modsx manager or any other file on the server through the browser.

Could you tell us more about your hosting environment? I suspect this is server related with CloudLinux being high on my list followed by mod_security/suhosin.
These are some of the particulars of my hosting environment.

You need to provide us with more information regarding your hosting for example:
SkyToaster Shared Hosting
Linux/cPanel
PHP 5.4.31
MySQL 5.6.19
This sounds like an environment problem as noted earlier, so knowing more about your hosting is key.
