update to 1.014: says config.inc.php is not writeable or not existent->but it is

Hi

I had to update from 1.012 to 1.014 because of ajaxSearch hacking danger. My Coda upload did probably overwrite the config.inc.php. I got it back from an update on the server and put it in the manager/includes position. When running update procedure it always says "Checking if /manager/includes/config.inc.php exists and is writable: FAILED!" but it is writeable (777 or 775, tried both). What is wrong? what can I do?

If you login to your webhost's control panel, does it have a file manager which show you what permission the file has? I used to have problems with permissions when using Dreamweaver and ended up using FileZilla - although Dreamweaver is fine nowadays.

Sorry for late answer, had vacation...

I tried with Coda; the permissions are definitely 777, but the installation routine tells still the same story...

What can i do???

Don't think it will help but;

did you try 644? I have my folders on 755, others on 644 and config on 404.
Maybe the root folder doesn't have 777 or all folders need 755 or the cache files isn't 644?

I solved the problem! I made a database dump, saved all the files and erased MODx on the hosting. After that I reinstalled MODx 1.0.14 and imported the database and files.
