SimpleSearch not searching string with a space and ignoring the rest of the text

    SimpleSearch: 1.9.0

    when i do a search it ignores the space and anything after it within the search field when displaying the search results.

    what i have in my website's head:
    [[!SimpleSearchForm? &landing=`4`]]

    this is what i have on my search page:
    [[!SimpleSearch? highlightResults='1']]

    i have messed around with some of the other properties, but nothing seems to be working for me. Anyone got something that could help me out with this?
