Hi,
Please correct me if this is in the wrong section.
I had my MODx install working fine for ages using on MAMP until I did an experiment with the Mac OS X’s built in Apache server.
Now the when I try to access my MODx site I get an MySQL error (in the next post).
From my research this is a problem that seems to come up on various platforms so I don’t think it has anything to do with the the OS or MAMP specifically.
Sorry I’m a bit of a n00b when it comes to setting all of this up properly so I’d appreciate it if someone who has an idea of Apache and MySQL could point me in the direction of repairing this.
Thanks

This sounds more like a problem for the MAMP forums.

I totally agree and posted there first. However that forum is so quiet you can hear the tumbleweed rolling past. 75% of the posts seem to be unanswered.
Anyway I hoped perhaps there may be an MySQL expert over here as thats what the problem seems to be. I’ll edit the post to reflect the issue which seems to be common but I couldn’t find a solution that worked/I understood.

I ran into a similar problem with an early MAMP installation when having both live. As I recall, I shut down the MAMP servers, turned off web sharing, and rebooted the computer. After the reboot, everything seemed to have been reset and worked again. But I haven’t had both systems running at the same time for a couple of years now, so I can’t say I’m any kind of an expert.
Thanks, that was the first thing I tried but no luck at all.
luckily I had another backup on a different computer which I managed to use so I have the data at least.
