I am a complete noob to MODX, so please excuse any assumptions or lack of details. We have a site that was built for us using MODX and it's great. However, I want to replicate our site under a different domain name where we can test new products, features, designs, shopping carts, etc... and experience them in a live setting before we actually implement them.
In a normal setting I would just register the domain, setup the hosted server, and then copy the files over... but since MODX is database ran and I did not configure this server initially I have no idea where to start.
Setup:
MODX Revolution 2.2.9-pl (traditional)
Hosted with Host Gator
Questions:
1. Is it possible to duplicate the site onto another domain? (I know anything is possible, but I am assuming you understand we don't want to rebuild the site, but something very similar to a copy and paste)
1a.: If so, how do I do this and what configurations are required on the hosting account to run MODX?
2. Our site is supposed to be optimized for search engines, obviously I don't want the testing site to be seen by anyone unless they know the rather unique domain name, any thoughts on how to hide it? (I know this is not MODX related, but any advice would be appreciated)
